More Than Robots

T.W.C.A. is a National award-winning FIRST Tech Challenge Team (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in Hurricane, Utah. We are comprised of 8 team members ages 14-18 and 3 adult mentors. Follow our journey as we strive to achieve our goals of becoming better friends, mentors, engineers, and ambassadors of FIRST and STEM in our community. We are thankful for the friendships we made during our last 3 seasons and look forward to meeting many new people through the new 2022-2023 Power Play season. Please enjoy this video from co-creator of the hit Disney show, Phineas and Ferb as he wished us luck for the Freight Frenzy season!

T.W.C.A. was invited to participate in the 2022 FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas! We would like to thank all of our fans and sponsors that helped us raise the funds we needed to make the trip. Through our experience at the FIRST Championship, we learned more than we have learned over our last 3 years combined. We are excited to begin our fourth season armed with new tools to help not only ourselves but other teams become better teammates and engineers.

Outreach

Last season we performed over 1,000 hours promoting FIRST in-person and virtually, and volunteering in the Southern Utah STEM community, with an estimated reach of over 100,000 impacted. This season we have already matched our outreach hours from last season and show no signs of slowing down! Highlights included traveling to Salt Lake to represent FIRST at a DIY Expo and being a big part of our local community in our weekly farmer’s markets and Peach Day’s celebration.

In the News

Over the last 3 years, we have found ourselves in multiple print articles and publications including the Salt Lake Tribune, Deseret News, and St. George News. We were also featured in a promotional video for the grand opening of DSU’s Atwood Innovation Plaza and newscasts on FOX13 and KUTV.
